Need the part number for the seal on the steering box where the pitman arm attaches. I just finished 19 pages of "steering" problems in the search function with no luck. I would rather just replace the seal and not the entire box. So far, I'm one of the lucky ones without the usual steering wander. Thanks, Mike

I don't recall anyone here replacing just the seal. You might have to pull the old one and get some numbers off it. Try to pull it out intact and if there are no numbers a good parts store should be able to match it just with measurements. You should measure the shaft diameter though as they have a hard time getting the correct measurement from the inside of a seal especially if it's damaged.

Doubt if Dodge breaks down the parts of the box but a search on the box manufacturer's website might yield some results.

Does an know how to tell if the steering box is a Delphi or a Saginaw? Here's the numbers I pulled off of it. On the Case: "84", 26001484, GM - SM8. On the cover: 309, 304A7, 7812145. Barcode: TWU3047H0482, P52039349. I would much rather have a replacement seal in hand before I start tearing the box apart.

Okay, now I know that Delphi amd Saginaw are one and the same. I e mailed the company for info. I'll pass on what I get. Hopefully they'll give me a part number for a rebuild kit.

Well, I e mailed Delphi and got no response. Dane: Thanks for the info on Straightlinesteering, they replied next day and do carry a complete rebuild kit for our trucks. $35. 00 to rebuild the steering box vice 700 from the stealer and 300 from Napa. Looks like I'll be rebuilding a steering box, I'll let ya know how it goes.
