I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this. At idle, if I whip (and I really mean WHIP) the steering wheel rapidly in either direction the PS pump can't quite keep up with fluid demand and the power assist will "blink" for a moment. I have not paid enough attention to see whether depressing the brake pedal makes it any worse. Above idle, I can move the wheel as fast as I want and it's fine.

It's not a problem, as it's very rare that I'm working the steering THAT FAST at idle, but I was just curious whether anyone else ever noticed this. The pump is NOT low on fluid.

I have a 4. 5 and I have noticed it also. It only does it at idle. Even if you are rolling. I do not think that it is a problem.

Got 92 miles on my '04. 5... mine did that for the first time yesterday. Going to watch that more closely.
