Help

I have a 2001 2500 64000 and last Feb 07 the dealer replaced the powersteering pump because it was leaking and I lost my brakes and steering. Everything was great till 3 weeks ago. While it was sitting in my driveway I noticed that oil was dripping out off the cap and running down to the track bar and onto the ground. I checked the fluid and it was extremely high like it had been over filled which it hadn't because it has been fine since I picked it up from the dealer last Feb and drove it countless times with no problem. So I took it back to the dealer and they say nothing is wrong. I'm trying to find out if there is a Check valve in the Hydra boost that is suppose to keep oil from draining back thus over flowing the pump reservoir. Talking to the dealer is like talking to my kids something is being lost in the translation. His comment is we can't fix something that isn't broke. Need help quick:-{}: so I can jam it down his throat

Can't help you with the check valve info... don't know... but my ps pump has burped like that before a couple times and I've usually taken to a parking lot and drive it around so I can go lock-to-lock with the steering wheel mulitiple times and that gets any air out and stabilizes the fluid level.

Supposedly, the hydraboost cylinder holds enough fluid for two applications of the brake after the pump has stopped, one good one anyway. Check valve, I don't think it would be like that, more of a control valve that is actuated by the application of the brake pedal. Air could cause overflow but I don't see how it could enter a full system? Try applying the brakes after you have turned the engine off, you should have power assist on the first push. Then try applying the brakes after the truck has been sitting overnight, should feel the same, if no power assist then the hydraboost is leaking down. Not good. bg

The hydroboost cylinder has lost a seal and the nitrogen gas has escaped. This is what blew the fluid out. You need to replace it.
