This is johns brother back in houston texas, he is traveling from houston to omaha nebraska in a 2003 Dodge 2500 diesel and he called me to come on here and ask what cause power steering and power brakes to go out at the same time? Power steering or brake fluid is leaking everywhere from under engine. Its dark and he cant tell what kind of fluid is leaking, if your between the areas of Guthry Oklahoma and Omaha Nebraska at 1:30 in the morning on Thursday September 2nd. If you get this message within now and early morning, he is going to try to make it to omaha on no brake fluid and no power stearing fluid give him a call on his cell phone at 402-306-1058. Thanks very much. :)

The power steering and the brakes are sort of connected. A line runs from the power steering pump up to the master cylinder hydro boost. I had a bad leak and the same thing happened to me. The fluid he is seeing will be red. The power steering uses transmission fluid.
