2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Power steering pump question

First let me say thanks to the guys who responded to my brake question helped me out thanks again. Now I think my power steering pump is going bad, when I turned the steering wheel to take left hand turns there is a strange sound coming from under the hood. It's almost like a groaning noise. It looks pretty easy to swap it out just wondering if anyone had any suggestions to simplify things. One last thing My truck is equipped with the hydrobooster does anyone know if a bad power steering pump would cause any braking issues. Thanks Rob

And yes, the power steering pump also runs the hydraboost.

Could cause problems with your brakes.
