Can anyone tell me if there was an article in TDR on how to replace a front seal in the power steering pump on a 99 Dodge Ram Cummins or tell me what I may get into to do this job? My front seal is leaking and I believe it is affecting my vaccum pump which is causing my automatic Trans. torque converter to constantly lock and unlock. I would appreciate all details and information related to this repair. Thanks in advance for any help on this subject!!! Brad

I'm not aware of any articles in the TDR mag. but if you do a search here in the forum you will find a lot of info.

Basically, you have to determine if it is power steering fluid or enginel oil that is leaking. If it really is the PS pump seal that is leaking I don't think you can replace the seal.

If it is engine oil that is leaking then there is a seal between the vac. pump and the PS pump that you can replace, but the seal has to be purchased from an independant source - it's not a Chrysler or Cummins replacement part.

If you do intend to do it yourself you will have to have access to a hydraulic press to remove and replace the seal bushing.
