My power steering is goofy. Always steers easy while in motion but sometimes you cant turn the wheel while stopped then other times you can go lock to lock with one finger. Engine RPM doesnt effect it.

Anyone else?

My buddy is going through the same problem at the moment. . So far the dealer has replaced the steering gearbox twice, the P. S. pump, all ball joints and front axle u-joints, tie rod ends, and some parts in the brake booster. Also changed to synthetic P. S. fluid. The truck still is not fixed, and he is waiting on a zone rep to see what the next course of action is:(

Yep, I've experienced the same thing. Sorry I don't have a solution for you. To be honest with you, I've never really considered having it looked at. Just figured that's the way it is. However, now I'm going to watch this thread real close to see if someone has a suggestion.

my truck does the same darn thing. last week i changed out to synpower and that seemed to cure the problem for a while now it is back again:rolleyes: I used a turkey baster maybe i should change the fluid again to make sure and get out all the orginal fluid. Will someone pleeese figure out what the problem is.

Power Steering - Erratic

I had the same problem with my 2002, 2500 4X4. The dealer drained and flushed the power steering system and refilled it with ATF ( yes type F ) There must be a DC fix unless they figured this out on their own. It has been much better. I have put about 8,000 mile on the truck, and have not completely lost power steering yet. I also have a "BOSS" power "V" snow blade on the truck, so I should of had a problem by now!

I have had this problem also on my truck. Don't even think about trying to steer when the temps are around 0*. It just hums and grunts till the fluid gets pumping.
