Just curious if anyone else has had this problem My 2014 Crew 2500 Cummins , 68RFE at 15 thousand miles has just started to get a whine when turning at lower speeds and lower engine RPM's Power steering fluid is full , looks new and no signs of frothing . I am aware of the plastic sleeve in the power steering issues on older model Gen 4's Can this same issue affect 2014 models ? Anyone seen a TSB on This ? The truck is totally stock no lift or oversize wheels

My 16 whines a little when turning full clock to the right. I'm monitoring it for now.

Just sayin'........

Bite me...just trying to help.

How about "Whoops, I missed that in the OP's post!!" instead of "Bite me!"....a lot of us do this in the midst of other things and it is easy to skip over something. You are not the first to do it.

Don't burn a bridge over someone catching you at it....you might need his help in the near future....

Guys like you make it hard for people to want to help out. Sure, I missed the fluid check in the original post, at least I tried to help. You self appointed thread nazis discourage people from getting involved and offering ideas. That's what's always been nice about the TDR is the genuine comraderie and willingness to assist that other forums don't have. We don't need or want thread monitors critiquing people who are just trying to help. I've been a member a long time, owned 3 generations of Cummins Dodge/Ram trucks, and sometimes I'm able to offer assistance to another member.

I can't remember when the plastic sleeve issue surfaced, but there is a good chance you might have that hose depending on your build date. If I get time today I'll see if I can gather up the threads when it first was discovered. If not I can get to it tonight.

Hello Flash,

I was not trying to make you mad, I was just poking fun. I've missed things in posts myself several times. I don't blame you for getting your back up over the first post. I thought that "Read......" sounded a bit ill mannered and I changed it to what the second post reads just a few seconds after I hit the button. I see now that instead of letting me edit my first post it made a second post and left the first one there. I apologize. I did try to edit it as you can see by the time stamps on the posts. I enjoy TDR way too much to make enemies. I just like trying to help my fellow members out. Hope we can get along now.

I've had 3 or 4 of my past trucks with a whine... a buddy who owns a transmission shop suggest I treat the fluid... He sent me 2 quarts of LUBE GUARD power steering fluid, and a 6 or 8 oz bottle of LUBE GUARD power steering treatment.... He had me use a suction gun to remove all the existing fluid I could remove with the suction gun.... add the treatment and than fill with the fluid... of course make sure you cycle the system... and top off...

In each case, on the Dodges and Fords it ALWAYS took care of the problem... his comment is that the fluid looses some of its properties... and the modifier and fresh fluid solves the problem... and he was right...

The last truck I did this to was a 08 Dodge 5500 cab/chassis....

I've got the same wine issue. Where can I find info about the plastic liner in side the hoses? Have you solved this? My truck is slowly getting louder.

Now that we have good weather here in Boise I will take my truck in to Larry miller and let them have a look . It is still under base Warranty and I have the FCA max care extended but with a hun deduct so I will get it in before that goes in to effect . My last Diesel A GM Duramax never had a whine but I did do a system flush and refill with BG synthetic power steering fluid at a local shop and it made a big difference in steering feel and response . It was also noticeably smoother so after Larry Miller I may just plan on doing that as well at 30K The Ram saginaw style steering box and pump along with the hydro boost is pretty much the same as the GM system Thanks for all your thoughts guys .
