This morning on my way to work, my power steering starting making a funny noise... If I'm not rolling, it's really hard to turn and makes a horried sound and vibe through the steering wheel. I'm on top of everything on and in my truck and the power steering fluid of course is pink/red "clean" and at the right level. Has anyone else ever had a problem with theirs doing this? Any input would be appreciated

Pump's probably bad...

This might sound odd, but could you describe the sound? Is it:

1. Objectionable hiss or whistle

2. Rattle or clunk

3. Chirp or squeal

4. Whine or growl

5. Sucking air sound

6. Scrubbing or knocking

Does the wheel return to center on its own like normal?

Well I was making a U-turn this last weekend and the power steering went out on me, so that answers my question... Just a heads up too, if you loose your power steering, you loose your brakes to... I had to push them as hard as I could just to make it stop after I lost the pump.

I am also having problems with my power steering. I have an '03 3500 4x4 SRW. Sometimes I get a whining noise when I turn the steering wheel from side to side, closer to the end of the turn. Sounded like it was low on fluid but it checked out okay. The last time that I noticed it was after returning from a camping trip with our trailer. It acted up in the driveway, later I noticed fluid on the ground. I dropped it off at the dealer today and they can't figure out where the fluid is coming from. They cleaned it up, put in some dye, and asked me to bring it back in 200 miles or so. The service writer and/or tech thought that it might be the start of the pump going out but didn't want to jump to that just yet since they are not sure where the fluid was coming from and they couldn't duplicate the whine. This concerns me since we are planning a trip to California from Colorado at the end of the month.

By the way, how much did your pump replacement cost and how many miles? Dodge headquarters could be getting a letter if it goes out after only 60,000 miles.
