We are struggling to isolate the problem with the power steering on our 91 W250 4WD. The pump is engaged to the moter drive, but fluid foams out the top. No power steering evident in the operation of the truck. (hard steering with that heavy engine!!) Mechanic doesn't have pressure guages to check pump output. Has anyone seen this b'fore?

Thanks, Andy

Sounds like it may be the relief valve in the pump has finally let go #ad
. When the valve sticks open the fluid in the reservoir gets churned up pretty good and you have no line pressure.
Sorry to say, but this involves disassembly to repair/replace.

Thanks Lil Dog for your assistance. We had an inkling that the pump was the problem child, so had a replacement ordered. (remans are harder than hen's teeth to find) I'll be sure to let know how we fare.
