My wife is having trouble with her knee and is wanting to have an easier way to get into the truck. I have read the posts I could find on the power steps and am leaning to the AMP brand. I have the bed step and really like it.

Any comments pro or con would be appreciated. One place I contacted wanted $400 more for the step than Geno's. Suggestions for installation location also appreciated. Will be driving from Bellingham, Wa to El Centro, Ca in October.

My grandfather just had the AMP steps put on his Ford, and he loves them. My grandmother has a very difficult time getting around and lifting her legs, so he had the installer space them down a little bit so when the are down they are right in the middle of the open space. This helped her greatly. They don't tuck up out of sight, but they are tight with the bottom of the rocker panel, and the extra length was well worth it to my grandma.

Hey Ron we have the amp step's on our 08 and my wife loves em being short they really make it easier to get in and yes it would make it easier with a bad knee for your wife . I got mine when I ordered the truck and I believe they were 1400 installed .

Mine were also installed by the dealer when I bought the truck. They're over 2 years old now and never have given me a minutes problem. Although pricey, they are worth it in terms of ease of use. They still grab folks attention in the parking lots. Mine tuck away completely under the truck when closed.

We have a friend who is an amputee and she likes them for entering the truck with her artificial leg.

I'm also very happy with my steps, they work every time and are a great help to myself and the kids getting in and out. One of the best items I've added to my truck. Spendy, but worth it.

Well worth it, i installed my own pretty easy. I did change one motor, but no problem with the exchange. Very nice customer service.

I dont know how to get into my friends trucks with out them. spoiled for sure.

I have them and would buy them again for sure. I have done the step bars in the past. The power steps are the only way to go IMO.

I have em on my MagaCab. My wife likes them even though she really doesn't need them. My 85 and 87 year old parents, however, NEED them. I For someone withmobility problems they are great. A big tip.

Wire them through switches (I put mine on the flat area to the left of the steering column) so you can turn them off when not needed. I leave the right side on for my wife and the left off 99%of the time. Intallation is straigtforward.

A small or right angle drill is handy for drilling a couple of the holes underneath. The wiring is a pain (on my 06 at least) but is actually easier if you install the switches I mentioned, since you have to cut and lengthen the wires, which enables you to pull them down from under the dash to a better location. I got mine from Genos.

thanks

After reading all of the coments I decided they looked like they were reliable and did the go well.

I decided to have the local Dodge dealer install the OEM steps because as well as I could determine they are the AMP steps. It will be a little more expensive but at least they will be installed by someone who is local which will be a plus if there is any problem in the future,

THANKS once again for the good infor

Ron
