. . a bit. Made some adjustments to pump today, turned diaphagm/ cone 120*. turned starwheel 90*, truck runs OK, but still feel something is lacking. Can only get up to 20-21#'s of boost before it starts defueling and max EGT I saw is about 1050* pre turbo, already turned power screw out approximately 2 turns a while back, that seemed to make a difference then, but still this one does not respond likey first '93 did. Is it one of those that needs the bigger injectors maybe? Smokes a fair amount at start up and if I get on it a bit hard down low, happened after power screw adjustment, just feel there should be more to be had from its current state. Was thinking possible boost leak, but that would make EGT's go way up, correct?

Make sure you turned the cone to the deepest side, not just a certian degrees. I turn the starwheel to bottom and then back it out two turns. I also shave about 1/2 off the nylon washer. You do mean you turned the fuel screw in, not out right? Yes a boost leak should increase EGTs. Check to make sure you are getting full travel on the throttle linkage. Mine was hitting the fuel line at full throttle. Turn your fuel screw in until it no longer drops to idle right away and then turn it out until it idles down properly, just make sure someone is prepared with a board to cover the intake in case of runaway. How is your timing set? My truck runs much better with the timing close to stock than it did with it advanced up close to the intake.

Deepest meaning to where the pin travels the most, correct? Without getting to scientific, thats where it is. Starwheel to bottom, turn it clockwise to do that, correct? Yes, I meant turned the screw "in". timing is set to about 2 "marks width" over the mark on gear case. Are those nylon washers available in case I shave too much off and need to replace, are you running a stock fuel pin? How much of a female dog are those to change out? AND... how much smoke do you pour out set up like you are? Thanks in advance !!!! :)

Looking at the bottom of the pin it is cut deeper on one side. That is what you want pointed to the front. Yes clockwise to the bottom and back out 2 turns more or less. Your timing should be ok at that setting. Don't worry about shaving off too much as some have removed the washer completly. I am now running the stock pin as the reground pin was too much when pulling my trailer and it lowered my fuel mileage. Since I upgraded the turbo mine does not smoke at all except at full throttle or if I lug it down. I get a little smoke when I first accelerate from a stop with my trailer but it clears up after I get up to speed. The fuel pin is easy to change out, just unscrew the nut from the top at the diaphram and take off the old one and put the new one on. The pin we are talking about is the one attached to the diaphram that you have removed if you set the starwheel. If you haven't already then get rid of the original tail pipe, it is smashed down over the rear axle and causes a bad restriction.

OK then, more confusion... . :confused: I was under the impression the fuel pin was the one that comes out and contacts the cone at the bottom( see my other thread I just started). :{

So, the GUIDE pin, is that supposed to move in correloation to throttle input, this one seems to "stick" till about 60% throttle then pops up out of its "hole".

That is normal with a 15 year old engine and a few hundred thousand miles. As long as it pops out, you're fine, as internal pump pressure will move things along when running. But, if it IS sticking, it could be your low power problem. Next time you pop it out, put some PB or synthetic grease on the exposed part, and cycle it back and forth a few times.

I did spray some carb cleaner down in there in an attempt to free it up, seeing as how the factory goop was all hardened up and stuff, truck only has 133k on it. Cleaned up the cone and put some white grease on it while I was at it too. After several times thats when it stayed in there, drove it around some tonight, will pull the diaphragm again tomorrow and see if it was coming out and hitting the cone. Turned the starwheel down a bit more tonight also, while on the brakes in 3rd I can get about 15-17 PSI, but only about 750-800 on the pyro (pre turbo) . On the highway in 5th, full throttle run to 90 MPH, MAYBE 20-21 PSI and 1050 pyro, seems off to me. What do you guys think, maybe I'm just used to the powerhouse '03. :-laf
