I need to get a new chain saw. I have been thinking of a power tuned one. I do a pretty decent amount of cutting about 200-250 ranks of wood a year. I like the size and the weight of the Stihl 026 Pro. I have one it just cuts to slow. I just need one for 18inch and below wood. I have a Stihl 046 for the bigger stuff. Who would you recommend Walker, Madison, Dozer Dan. Thanks for the input.

Where are you located?

I'm very familiar with Madsen's--that is who you mean, not Madison--I worked just down the street from them for about 5 years. They're about 45 minutes south of where I'm moving to.

I have a 034 and a 044 'Power Tuned' by them. No complaints.

Ken Dunn does good work, too but he goes a lil crazy with the saws... . way more than Madsen's will do. His costs are higher, too--figure twice what the saw will cost new. You can email Ken at -- email address removed -- I think it still works.

Know some guys with Walker saws, they seem to like them, but I don't know much more about them other than that.

FYI, Madsen's doesn't build uber-high performance saws for the public anymore--so no nitrous bottles in your future. :D

Madsen's address:

1408 S. Gold St. #2

Centralia, WA 98531

Hope this helps,

Dan

**BTW** Use Maxima 927 2-cycle oil in whatever you decide to run. Can't get much better.

I live about 30 miles south of St. Louis. I know walker charges $200. I was told he takes the gasket out between the head and the cylinder. He then uses sealer between them. Others mill the head and use a gasket. This kind of scares me but i guess it works Walker has a good name out there.
