I'm a Y2K owner, but I'm second generation. My father owns a '93 and in lieu of getting a new truck he's thinking that maybe some type of power upgrade is an option. I'm not really familiar with the options available for the '93 and could use some education/help from you friendly folks here. It's a completely stock '93, with low mileage.

The other thing is that whatever upgrade options there are it'd be nice if there were a local shop (Albuquerque, NM) that could do the upgrade. My father's a pretty decent mechanic but he's to the point where he just doesn't enjoy doing that kind of work as much as he used to, so local shops anyone is familiar with would be great.

There is a local Cummins shop here in Albuquerque. Are there any factory options for upgrading a '93? Of course there's no warranty issue, but still, if Cummins offered some type of upgrade that would be nice.

Thanks in advance!
Gary

Changing the injectors is the best thing to do. I have the "Power Wagon" injectors-named after the second gen moderator-and they, BY THEMSELVES, out perform exhaust system upgrades, turbine housing changes and fuel pump tweaking with stock injectors and cost much less.

I have a 91. 5 that was modified by Statkus engines here in Albuquerque and it runs great. I would recommend their shop, they do good work, but like anything, you have to pay for what you get. Greatly improves the driveability of the truck. Good Luck.

There is also a Banks Performance shop on N 14, between Tijeras and Cedar Crest (right side of the road going north). I have only seen their sign as I pass by but I know that they exist and look like they do a fair business.
Just a thought,

PS. If you did want to do the injector install yourself, Ted Jannety Racing sells the injectors and a good instruction sheet. If you get into trouble, Ted is just a phone call away. I did the mod on my truck and it made a world of difference and it only took a Saturday morning.

Thanks guys. This info will be very helpful, especially the local shops since I can use that for myself! #ad
