I have a pretty simple question. I've been wondering if the new Power Wagon is ever going to be sold with the Cummins instead of the Hemi... This new truck is going to be awesome... but to me... that would make it that much better

Thanx

Not likely without a major front end change. The much-lighter Hemi won't cause as much downforce when on the trail as the Cummins would. And if even one person bends a front axle on a Cummins Power Wagon, they'll have a case since DC markets the truck as a capable off-roader. This is not to say that a Cummins Ram won't handle a trail or that a diesel PW won't ever happen. But for DC to cover their butts, they would need a MUCH stronger front end in order to prevent constant warranty claims.

Also, I'm not sure with the winch in the front if there would be clearance for the Cummins and all the extras it requires.

The extra wieght on the front would actually be a huge help for steep high traction situations. My Unimog is all diesel up front, nothing in back and it climbs stuff you never imagined. I agree though that in addition to stress on the axle from wieght, 610 lb/ft multiplied by low range then forced through an axle with a locker is a sure recipie for breakage. It would take an incredibly beefy axle shaft to withstand that. then figure in the fitting of the winch where our intercooler goes and the limited production numbers and it isn't too surprising.

I don't think $40k is too bad myself. There is a ton of nice stuff baked into that rig. The factory lockers are huge IMO, the factory winch is huge, the lift, the swaybar disconnect, rocker protection, the tires. Ask anybody who has modded a rig for serious off road and this is a bargain, especially when it comes factory backed.

Lockers, 2000 dollars

Winch and bumper, 2000 dollars

Swaybar disconnect, 200 dollars

Rock sliders, 500 dollars

Tires, 1500 dollars

Knowing you just trashed a brand new $40,000 machine for your offroad adventure?

Priceless. :D
