Find a automotive elect. repair facility. They can probably match the brushes. Are they worn out? If not usually cleaning the commutator with a soft brush (toothbrush) and spraying with contact cleaner will solve the problem.

Go to a motor re builder and see if they have Helwig catalog. There you might find what you need. lol Jimk

Thanks for the help. I'll take apart some old motors I have around and if I don't find anything suitable I'll bring the old brush to an electric motor place and see if they can match it.

My passenger side window was intermittent in its operation, so I checked all the wiring (relays and switches) and it was fine. I took the motor out of the door and took apart the motor, sure enough one of the brushes was broken. Haven't seen very many broken brushes, but it happens. If brushes were available, they would probably cost all of five dollars. Anyway, the Dodge dealer only sells a complete motor/regulator assembly and I'm sure you can guess what that cost. I fit the broken pieces back in such a way that the motor works for now, but it's not a good fix.

Again, thanks for the input.

Brushes

I saw a tray in the section of local hardware store where all the misc. things are located marked "Motor brushes", don't know how wide a range they had in sizes, if you can't find them, list the exact size and I will check and see if I can match them. bg

If you find a brush that is close you can file it down or sand it to fit as I have done so many times. In the end does it really matter as long as the brushes work and you have no more problems with the motor. Jim
