Hey guys the driver side power window on my 2001 has been having a little fit lately. Sometimes it sticks up. For the longest time it has had a little bit of a shimmy, i guess is the best way to explain it, when it is going up. Anyway just wondering if anybody has had problems with their windows in their trucks before I take the door panel off. With 68000 km the motor shouldn't be going but stranger things have happened.

Thanks Again, Kevin

I always spray the welting in the track down with silicone when they get a little sluggish or go up and down with a chatter. I put a new switch in the wifes Chrysler this weekend and I noticed it still didn't travel well untill I greased the slides in the regulator assembly. Now she says it just glides up and down when she rolls the window to get the mail.

I used to work in an Auto Glass shop many years ago.

A little grease and Silicone spray really prolong the life of the P. W. mechanism by making it easier for the motor to work the mechanism. Less work = longer life.

2 weeks ago I just took the door panels off of my '95 and greased the slides and siliconed the welts. Also grease the gear, which you can reach by squeezing an arm inside the door. An acid brush is the tool of choice for this job. And the Silicone spray should be 100% Silicone, not a Petroleum blend.

I've had problems with mine since I bought the truck 1. 5yrs ago. The other day I took off the door panel. Near the doorlock inside the door is a piece of metal that holds the upper portion of the track in place. I noticed the metal flexing everytime the window hit a certain spot. A long screwdriver and hammer moved the metal retainer just enough. My windows have never worked this great.

I had the same shimmy in my '01. 5. I had the dealer look at it when it was in for some warranty work. The problm was found to be dry window tracks. They lubricated them and it is good as new.

where exactly do you put the lube. do you just put it in the black felt like material or do you have to pull off the door panel. I think mine isn't working as well because it has a little mud in it from when i rolled down the window when it had little mud on it.

The best solution would be to remove the door panel and lube the tracks themselves. This will also keep the glass alot cleaner.

Ok guys lubed up the tracks today without taking the door panel off just sprayed lube in the felts. Window has never worked better. It probably would be better to take the panel off but thats a pain, so I can live with a little silicone ont the window for awhile.

Thanks for all the help,

Kevin
