My drivers side window won't go up. Help. The switch is good. The motor is good. When I unbolt the motor and plug it in, it works in both directions. As soon as I hold the motor up to the metal bracket to install it, the motor only works in one direction. Once I even saw a spark between the motor housing and the bracket when I was holding it in place and moving the switch. The window moves freely and nothing is binding. I'm not an electrical genius so please give very specific advice. My first thought is that something is grounded. The problem started yesturday about 5 or 6 hours before the first rain we have had in weeks. Just my luck.

Thanks,

Jeff

I have tried a remanufactured motor and a switch from my other truck and still have the same problem.

Jeff,

Wow, this is really wierd. The fact that the motor works in both directions when not grounded really points to a ground at one side of the electrical connections in the motor. I can't believe a new motor did not fix it. If you have an ohmeter check the resistance between each motor lead and motor case. There shoould be no continuity. (infinity)

Is it possible you have two bad motors?

Sounds to me like you have a problem in the harness- mebbe when the motor is in position the wires are shorting to the door.
