This will be the 2nd power window switch to go out on the pax front door... any ideas why this may be happening? Window works fine using the driver's switch for the pax window... hummm! They cost $35, can I get them anyplace at less $?

Also the back door window gets stuck and a good tap on the motor makes it work... is it time to replace that system or what? GHEEzz! it is only a 2004 and the backs hardly get used!

Any help is well appreciated! THX! PJ

Check to be sure it's really the passenger side switch that's gone out. Mine worked intermittently for awhile, then I noticed that all 3 windows don't respond to their switches.

I suspect it's actually a problem with the lockout switch.

Try disassembling the rear window and lubricating the assembly.

Ryan

I'm having the same problem with my 2003. I rarely have a passenger so that switch is hardly ever used. I'm really surprised it would be worn out before the driver's side switch which gets about 100 times the use.

Ryan, where is the lockout switch you referred to?

I am also having intermittent passenger window not working on my 03. Checked other windows and found they did not work either. Played with the lockout switch (drivers side - window and door lock cluster) and got it working better for a while. Getting worse again, so will have to replace the switch cluster I suppose.

Yeah, we're all having identically the same problem. I haven't taken the time to fix it, because I almost never have passengers.

Dave, by "lockout switch" I mean the pushbutton switch in the driver side switch bank that allows you to prevent any passengers from operating their own windows.

Last year I did take the time to swap the window switches on the passenger side front/rear to see whether I could isolate the problem to a switch. I found that the failure had nothing to do with the individual switches, which is why I now suspect it's really a problem somewhere in the window lockout circuit.

Ryan

Ahh! Now that is not a place I had looked... is there a way to bypass the lock out? Is it a separte switch or is a part of a whole mess in the door? Capt. PJ

There is a oil out that you can spray in elt. boxes that lubes them. Try spraying your switches with it. Rain water gets in them very easy a little lub goes a longe way. I can not thank of the name but the numbers on the can is 26+ the can is blue

Probably CRC 2-26. Been atound a long time in electrical business.

lockout switch

Mine does that too. I tore into the pass. door and made sure the connections were tight, checked continuity, and added some dielectric grease, but still had problems. Finally I toggled the lockout switch (located on the driver door by the door lock switch) and it took care of the problem. At some point I'm going to take a look at the lockout switch to see if there is dirt in it. I'll keep you all posted.

I have been having this same problem, decided to do a search on the forums.

On DTR, in fact in todays post's, there is a member who states that he and his dad found a three way splice inside of a plastic gutter in the drivers door sill that was all corroded. They repaired and corrected the problem.

Guess what I'll be doing this weekend?

Not to try and steal this thread, but it does somewhat relate. One of the tabs that holds my front passenger window/door lockpanel has broken, so it slides all over when using either one. Any whre to get a new one besides the $#@^!% Dealer... TIA, Scott

I've had the same issue for years

I always suspected and isolated the issue to the lockout switch. I never really cared that much because I drive alone a lot. THat said, I'd definitely fix it if someone found a cure. I've dreaded even asking the dealer for a price on the switch assembly. :{ So if it's a splice issue, that'd make me much happier.

Same issue, '03 with lockout switch malfunction that disables all the window switches except for those in the driver's door. Tried JJPage's suggestion... took the door apart but mine doesn't have any 3-way connector/splice, just an integrated wire harness with 2 connetors to the switch and one to the widow motor. Looks like I will eventually spring for the $83 for a new drivers door switch... .

Mickey, it really was not my suggestion, it was from a post on DTR.

I have not had the chance to look at mine yet, but eventually I will, too busy right now, still need to get my truck to pass emissions.

JJPage, NP, I was hoping for a simple fix! BTW, If I take the drivers door switch assembly out, hit it hard on the palm of my hand and re-install, all the windows work for a while. Looked at the diagram and can't really determine if the lockout switch has to be open or closed for all the windows to work. I tried shorting out the connections assigned to the lockout switch with aluminum foil but no joy!

so here is a funny problem I have with my windows. I have the same issue where the passengers switches wouldn't work. It was intermittent, but they usually didn't work. I ended up removing the driver side switches and unscrewed the entire assembly down the to circuit board. I don't know what I did, but when I put it back together it worked. I didn't have a problem for maybe a couple months and now it isn't working again.

Here is where it gets wierd. I usually drive when we go to lunch, so when I start the truck and can hear everybody trying to lower the windows, but they can't so I have to lower it for them. Check this out. When I go to raise the window and they hit the button to raise the window it stops, but when I let go they can't raise it. So somehow their button will stop me from raising it, but won't actually operate the motor? Does this point to where my problem is at?

RadioShack sells a "TV Tuner cleaner" that is a cleaner and lube in one. Has a nice high pressure stream to get into the small places...

Has worked wonders on my TPS

just an fyi. .

well, I found that the switch was completely broken off the circuit board. I solved the problem by soldering some wire from one end to the other and closing the circuit. Windows work fine at all the passenger doors now. I can't block them out, but not a problem for me.

I am having the same problem, especially in the mornings when it is cold. Once the truck sits in the sun for a few hours the other window switches will work again.

I am going to try to join the contacts just like stated as well and see if that helps.
