Front Passenger Side Window Popping

Let me preface this by saying: This is petty.

Okay. The front passenger side window is VERY slow, even seems like it's weak. Is this a something I should ask to be covered under warranty? The other windows seem to zip right down. This one in particular has always been a little slow, but it seems to be getting worse. Will they replace the motor or address the issue even though the part is actually "working"

I've only taken the truck in for recalls, and haven't requested anything be repaired under warranty (sans the window seals for the tint issue).

Thanks,

Andy

The same window on my truck has been a little slower than any of the others since day 1. I don't think it's gotten any worse, but I *might* be inclined to take it for warranty work before the 36000 mile warranty is up. I, too, have never had any warranty work done on the vehicle. If I were in your shoes, I'd go ask the dealer to replace the motor.

Absolutely take it in.

I worked in and managed an Auto Glass shop many years ago, and we had several local dealers, (Including the local Chrysler dealer) that we did warranty work for. Usually this problem is either a mis-assembled door/window mechanism or a mis-alignment problem in the mechanism itself. Rollers have to be in the proper tracks, the tracks have to be properly adjusted, lubricated etc. Most likely it is not the motor, but if you keep making that motor work so hard it will fail way before it's time.

mine has this same problem, but as of late, it seems to be working a little quicker than before [or i am imagining so... ] down seems ok [still slower than other 3], up seems slow [and at about 1/2 way up it bogs down a bit]

Others too have mentioned that the front passenger window is slow and/or stops about half way down. That's exactly what mine did; I had it fixed under warranty. They said it's a binding issue with the linkage and just needed a little tinkering with. Works fine now...

My 02 1500 (same body) did that and it was the worst when several of us got in a hot locked up truck at the same time in the summer and pressed the down button for fresh air.

I know it sounds petty -the slow thing but try this...

simulate 3 people by pressing the drivers auto down then the bad window and a rear one at the same time. Doing that you may be able to show the service manager how bad it really is.

On my old truck that window would grind to a halt till the others were done.

I traded it off for the CTD before the window was fixed so I can't say but my best guess is a miss adjusted track causing the motor to slow. Operating the other windows robbed the extra current needed to overcome the binding IMO.

I can't believe it... Mine is in the shop RIGHT NOW for that same problem.

Window goes half way down and almost stops... Then it zips the rest of the way down.

Dealer said they cleaned a LOT of dirt and gunk outta the track.

Crazy thing is... It has done it from the day I picked it up.

So is that a new option from the factory... Dirt in the tracks :D

Mine's slow too. Add to the list of stuff to take it in for:

PS hose TSB

Alternator bracket

Passenger window

I'd like to try to think of EVERYTHING and be done with it in one trip. Am I missing anything else?

mine has been slow since the beginning also. i wondered if it were lack of use but the others are fine. guess i need to take it in and have the dealer look at it.

Try this, worked for me. Spray the window channels with silicone lubricant. Also spray the rubber that seals the window face, inside and out. Do it several times and run the window up and down each time. Leaves streaks for a while but makes everything slick. My passenger window was very slow until I tried this, works good now.

Good Luck

Mine does it to but two dealers in a row swore there was no difference. I can't get over these service people.

Mine slows up about halfway up then speeds up. The other windows don't do it.

As long as it does that forever I really don't care but if it's a sign of a failure I wanted it on file.

No biggy.

Funny its the front passenger an all the trucks.

Well I got mine back from the dealer last night... Didn't have time to check it.

They said "The track was REAL dirty and we had to clean it out..... You need to keep these things real clean for them to work... "

Glad my father picked it up for me... . I can just imagine what I might have said back to him.

Dad told me to check it out... Print out this thread and I can go back tomorrow and cuss them out... LOVE YA DAD :D

I will keep ya posted about this issue.

Bouncy, this is more like the truth and what the dealer should have said: "The track was REAL dirty and we had to clean it out..... Gee we're REAL SORRY the moron who assembled this at the factory buttoned up the door without noticing all that dirt and doing something about it. "

both of mine have the issue. . only one of them in now in the bone yard LOL

my Son had a Dakota. . also did the same thing from day one same window

Add me to the list!

I thought that it was maybe a different motor than the DS one and it was normal, but if some of you got your pass side units to work at the same rate as the DS one, then I guess there really is a problem

VERY STRANGE that we ALL have dirty tracks from the factory. I'm thinking there is more to this than meets the eye.
