The passenger side window will go down but not up. I can operate from the drivers side. What is involved in pulling the switch on the door panel and is there any tricks so I won't break anything?
to get the window switch out you have to remove the door panel. when you get the panel off you unplug the window switch from the wiring harness and then take out the switch. real easy task but get the right tool to pop the panel off our you will ruin most of the plastic rivets that hold it on.
You can get the door panel tool at Napa for under $10. 00. It's well worth it. You can remove the panel without it, but it's a pain to get the clips out that stay in the door. The panel tool will pop them right out a lot faster and with less damage, as CSnyder said.
I had the same problems, Once you get it out take it all apart and scuff up with a light sandpaper. This will get all the crap off of it. When I put mine back together I sprayed with WD-40 to help stop corrosion from moisture. Pretty easy, except like said above you will probably break all the plastice clips.
I've taken my switches apart 2 or three times now. It is pretty easy. I just cant seem to keep mine clean. one or two always stops working after about 6 months. I even tried die-electric grease, and some liquid copper stuff.

You do not have to pull the door panel to get the window switch out. Just take out the grab pocket and you can get to it. You can do a quick check to see if the switch in bad. The door lock and window switches are the same. Just swap the plugs
Driftwood's right. I had some intermittant problems with the door lock switch on my 1995 truck and got to it through the grab pocket. Squeeze the plastic tabs together and it will pop right out.
In my case, I didn't even have to replace the switch. I just sprayed it with contact cleaner and now it works like a charm.
