RUMOR? REFLASH FOR ETH's???

I'm sure this has been covered before... . but, for my curiosity and the curiosity of new folks what is the deal with the "stacking" of the different boxes? I mean the VA with the EZ and the EZ comp and the Van Acken (been a while since I've heard about it) and such? I run a PM3 from TST now (did the pm2, PM2 Rev B) and just wondered what each box does? Not trying to "dump" on anyone, just wondering. See alot of sig lines with the fore-mentioned mods.

Take care all.

I believe that no matter which you choose, they all do about the same thing, add fuel, some also take care of the timing. Seems that each box has it's own unique property. The Ez adds some fuel and timing, the Power edge adds major fuel, the Pro-comp adds major fuel and timing (same as having an Ez and a Power edge piggybacked, but in one box and has the ability to custom tune your fueling to suit your needs). I have no experience with the VA box, but I believe it is similar to the Edge, without a boost module, the TST boxes can be purchased to either be set at one level or programable with a 9 level remote. They are also major fueling boxes and also do timing and boost, DD's box is similar to the Edge EZ, only the fueling settings are set up in a different manner to to accomadate thier injectors.

It's been said here before, but it really is the flavor of the month in regards to these boxes. Seems to me that Edge Products is leading the pack with R+D, though the same could be said for Blue Chip. Personally, I like the TST adj. remote box and have it piggybacked to the Edge Ez. I'm sure that I would be just as happy with either the new Edge Pro-Comp. or the new Blue Chip box.

Since I have the ETH, which does not respond as well to 'piggybacking' as the ETC's do, I am trying to build more HP with larger injectors and I believe I've done it with the new BD step 5's. Only a dyno run will tell for sure, but I have yet to even turn on the TST box since their install. They make my truck feel like it did when the TST box was set on level 6 (it's a comp. box) with the step 3 injectors.

We all have our favorites, upgrade your truck in the proper order, pick your poison and have fun :) .

power max 3 adjustable with ez set on highest level here,,luv it!!! the ez put the icing on the cake!! only problem is now that i'm used to it i want MORE!! hey bill k. ,,do ya think my transmission will handle big injectors also??

Iceman,

Bigger injectors combined with your fueling boxes = disaster in most cases. It is obvious you have been talking to Mopar Muscle and the rest of those nutcases, keep in mind Mopar has learned to build his own transmissions now.

I have actually ordered a new comp box for my truck, it is a little different than what is presently on the market. It has the ability to de-fuel, yes i said de-fuel that was not a typo.

With the super mental injectors in our truck i need a way to lower the amount of fuel.

However, i suppose depending on how you look at it , you guys stacking boxes , combined with bigger injectors , propane , nos,

will keep me busy for a long time. As long as you guys remember i warned you up front, its ok to play as long as you remember you will have to pay.

I have a question of mileage. Fromt he factory, teh cummins is rated to go about 200-400K give or take. With the addition of boxes and such, what is the life expectancy? Does it even affect it?

one of the nutcases :D

nutcases :p , who , what where ???

Iceman Bill said it best , you wanna play , your gonna pay . seriously , i'll go out on a lim here and say that 550 flywheel HP with whatever torque rating that is is about max , if not hairy edge of what this auto is capable of handling , for short bursts . sometime soon mine is going to do a full rebuild , i'm nearing 50k miles , half that bone stock with as much as 450 flywheel HP . why am i rebuilding it ? not sure , but i've been thrashing it in the name of research , i'll also say that dd2's are probably max if using any add on boxes above an EZ type , boxes that connect POST electronics are just to much for design of this transmission with the CUMMINS torque capability .

ok bill,,i'm gonna live with what i got for now. my wifes even starting to call me a nut (all you do is play around with those trucks of yours). gotta play with something!!! right??

veetenjeff,,almost 200,000 on my 94 and runs better than new

hey bill k can you recommend which transmission will be able to hold up to a PE comp with stage 3 injectors and 100hp propane. I was thinking of the 91% for reliability- and I might tow down the road but what do you think? Has anyone used the PE pro-the box for propane? If so what kind of settings does it have?

This post makes me happy I sent my Stage III's back for 275's. Manual transmission or not, I don't want to learn how to repair mine any time soon.

Nutcases - hehehe that's funny

which trans ????

jacob , which trans ? the trans is the same ,what is different is the convertor , the higher the rating , the more power it transfers when unlocked . as far as RELIBILITY , your foot controls that , nothing is bulletproof , with the power you are thinking of , you are treading on some thin ice , ask the guys with the broken output shafts , i know of 5 different people , 1 more than once .

if you haven't bought your BOMBs yet i think you need to ask yourself what you want the truck to do , and then access what you need to do the job . ( am i really saying this ????) from your description sounds like a 7000 lb hotrod that you want to tow with , being that you want propane i would rethink your injector choice . big injectors bring with them high EGT , if you must have the big injectors you better add a different turbo and possibly an ATS manifold to that list ( another $1500 plus).
