I was doing a search in preperation of converting a set of third generation powered and heated towing mirrors for installation on my '01.

There was mention that the dealers have the powered and heated towing mirrors for the '94-'02 trucks in the accessory catalog but no part number was posted. Are these out there? If so what would the p/n be?

My truck has the regular power/heated mirrors installed so I would have to purchase a pair of both the manual and the powered mirrors to do the conversion. But would not have to purchase the switches.

Thanks Jeff

Jeff,

To my knowledge the only powered/heated mirrors are the regular ones; the towing mirrors were all manual for 94-02. I've been toying with the idea of converting my tow mirrors to power, but I can't justify the cost vs. use.

I was under the same impression. But in the post I found doing the search "powered tow mirrors", they were mentioned but no part number was ever posted.

I don't tow that much with the '01 yet as I usually use my '92 W350 for towing. But will be using the '01 more as time goes on and beleive the conversion would be money well spent, as the regular mirrors leave alot to be desired when towing. Jeff

What I did was buy the Mopar tow mirrors for my '01, to replace the frozen/broken factory ones. When I'm not towing, I set it and forget it. When I am towing, my wife provides the power to tilt the mirror where I want :-laf , then I set it and forget it too.

Vibration is minimal when extended. The Power Vision mirrors use a steel backing plate to stiffen up the mounting area of the doors.

I have a set of of powered heated regular mirrors for an 01 if you are interested. I did the conversion so I have the original non-tow mirrors. They did not have a power version of the two mirrors in 01 and 02 that is why you need to buy two sets of mirrors to make one.

I have the power visions and am very happy with them, I purchased a set of the cipas but didn't like how the passenger's side mirror was angled in toward the vehicle more than the driver's side, kind of ticky tacky, but it looked funny to me. I don't notice any vibration with the power vision that wouldn't be there on any other mirror, plus, my wife is not always in the truck when I'm towing, the convenience of telscoping, motorized, and heated is huge, plus your truck won't look like Mickey Mouse going down the road.

I did my own 2nd gen/ 3rd gen swap plus one more swap for another member here. It is not easy. They are invaluable to me and Lewis, the guy I did the swap for, thinks they are great. But it is not an easy conversion. I have done two sets now and it still takes most of a day by the time you finish the mounting and wiring.
