Been looking at a reliable way to secure my truck. A regular alarm does'nt stop the thieves around here they will drive down the street with the alarm sounding and no one pays attention anymore. I found this in a truck trend mag... www.powerlock.com did some checking sounds pretty good. Does anybody have this system sounds real simple. I realize they can still take your stereo etc. but at least they can't drive away in your truck. I think I'm gonna try it. Any info would be great. Dwayne:cool: :D :)

I don't know the cost of the system you are asking about, but the majority of alarm systems have a circuit to interrupt the starter when the alarm is sounding. If you are worried about them driving away this might be an option.

FWIW - I think the disable "tricks" posted on the TDR if you are only interested in preventing the engine from starting.

I understand that the Dodge alarm system, which can be added aftermarket, disables the truck so that it cannot be started. I think the price is about $200. $100 if you order it as an option with the truck.

alarms

The only problem with the OEM alarms and similar, which disable the starter can be bypassed by a semi pro thief within a matter of seconds. Had one on my toyota and they took the alarm out as they stole the truck, it was a top of the line viper. This powerlock system disables the starter itself and cannot be bypassed. From what I have read on it, it is highly recommended. It has a comp chip that cant be copied. Well any way thanks I'll see what else I can find out... .
