Powershot 2000 propane kit for 1st gen?........

Hello Guy's



I was thinking about getting their propane injection kit for my '93 and had a bunch of questions.

first, how much power does it add? Is it adjustable? What size bottle? Can you use a BBQ sized one? How hard is it to install?

Where is it injected into the engine at?

How does injecting propane make more power in a diesel engine?



My current mod's to my truck include: K&N filter, straight piped stock exaust, and PW injectors, stock fuel settings on the pump.



The engine has 109,000 miles, makes 20psi boost empty and runs strong... ... how much power will it make on propane

I just installed one on my early '91 - will be going on a RV jaunt into the Sierras Thursday - I'll tell you ALL about the results when I get back! SO FAR, seems to be significant power increase, a VERY complete and nicely done kit - NOW if it just gives me the increased load-pulling power I bought it for, I'll be a VERY happy camper!

So, did you install it yourself? what do they claim the power increase is? How long does the propane supply last?

Dan - yes, I installed it myself - pretty easy job IF you have a decent spot arranged for propane tank installation. I am using a plain BBQ 5 gallon tank to supply mine - I only plan the use of propane when pulling loads in the hills, so propane SHOULD last me quite a while. Others with these systems seem to report that a 5 gallon tank in steady use is good for around 200 miles.



CLAIMED power increase is supposedly in the 60-100 hp range, depending on how the user chooses to jet the setup and maybe readjust the regulator to increase injection threshold. All instructions and supplementary jets are included in the kit.



The big test for mine will happen tomorrow when pulling our 24 foot 5th wheel up above Placerville headed to Pollock Pines for the weekend - nearly 10 miles of 5-7% grade... Results to follow!

Boy, if it adds that much horsepower, I would hate to see how much torque it adds!



What about your egt? does the egt shoot through the roof when the propane comes on?

Gary: how much did it cost? and do you have any transmission problems with all the extra power?... . lemme know maybe i'll have you install mine since you're a pro now. .

i drive up that grade every day,



in vegas at MM this topic came up , some pp kits do not shut



off propane , the 5. 9 keeps going and going ( like the batteries)



some say need to tie to throdle position switch,



any ideas suggestions? how did it go

i can take the grade out of p ville where i live up pollock

at 10,500 lbs at 55 mph 4 th or 5th gear, have to watch exaust temps ,
