Powerstroke cam sensor code

Anybody know about a TSB on this engine about cam sensor clearance. Improper clearance between sensor and pulse wheel causes hard starts, stalling, setting codes? Am trying to help a friend with a 96, with these symptoms.

Yes, I know about the bulletin. You may want to try a new sensor first. Also batteries on those trucks need to be in top shape or they will crank and not start and throw a cam sensor code.

my cam postion sensor went on my 99 powerchoke and it left me stranded. it would not turn over at all. i had to have it towed. i drove it that morning and it acted like it wasn't getting fuel a couple of times and i stopped for coffee and thats all she wrote. that was just one of the times it left me stranded.

This truck has an intermittint proplem, my friend thinks it is the glowplugs that dont work. The plugs are new, plug relay is too. All checks(volts, current draw) are good. Hard to start when cold, sometimes craps out on road when warm. Only code was for cam sensor. Also had engine harness replaced not too long ago, best I could tell, it started missing, heard of problems with the harness connections at the valve covers burning up. FANZDSLPWR, Where in Jersey ?

if you think its a glow plug problem then do a glow plug check. if its throwing a code for cam postion sensor than replace it. like i said before my truck would not run when that sensor went bad. the cam postion sensor and glow plug relay went at same time. i am located in southern jersey. you can find those sensors online for alot cheaper than ford dealership. if you need help finding them than email me. good luck

Local dealer wants $170, found one at the local IHC dealer for $84. Thats with my company discount. Will replace tomorrow and get the four letter word out of my garage! Am from Bergen County, Oakland, Havent been there since 95. Thanks for the help.
