Not to say this is good or bad, but interesting in how the Powerstroke engine works. I like simplicity so the Cummins is my choice. I'm not quite ready for five sensors and an ECM to tell an injector when to fire. A turbocharger controlled by the ECM is also alittle too exotic. It sounds like the wave of the future yet it still uses glow plugs. If it had an onboard diagnostic capability like Dodge had, it would be alittle more inviting.

Hey Steve,

Compare the price of those "exotic" injectors to the price of the Cummins injector at a Cummins distributor. Or try the price of water pumps. Hmmmmm... . Cheaper to trade trucks!!

I too like the claims of the "new technology" but the glow plugs are still there!!! Still have the cavatation erosion problems too. Hmmmm... .

Why is the Cummins heavier with smaller displacement??? More iron in the block?? Bigger & Heavier rods?? Much larger bearing surfaces??

Something doesn't add up... ... .

Yes, I'm aware of the over $400 water pump and the major disassembly required to change it compared to removing the belt and two bolts on the Cummins. Also one injector costs more than a whole set for the Cummins and is also a fiasco to change one. That's why I opted for simplicty over high tech. And them glow plugs are like wagon wheels on a Ninjasaki.
