Horsepower question...

I don't understand what the confusion is all about.

Chevy, Ford, Dodge or Hummer, When anyone wants to convert their truck to a diesel, what engine do they choose? CUMMINS

I have yet to hear someone admit they were converting to a Powerstroke.

They swap them in for the same reason everyone swaps a 350 Chevy in for a gasser swap. They're cheap, easy to get parts for, and any idiot can work on one and hop it up. ;)

Hey Wowzy,

Ya just haven't met a rocket scientist with too much money and a desire to have a motor that's hard to get parts for and even harder to work on. :D

Johnboy3 says, "They're cheap, easy to get parts for, and any idiot can work on one and hop it up"

Since the powerstroke is much easier to hop up, does this mean the powerstroke owners are more of an idiot???? I guess that mean most of the phord dealers are also big idiots since they sell the trucks already chipped. :)

Idiot?

If any idiot can hop one up, then color me an idiot. But it takes a special kind of idiot to hop up a Powerstroke. Right back at ya ;) .

BTW, what is wrong with cheaper, easy to get parts for, and easier to work on anyway?

FJ40, I didn't say the PSD was easier to hop up. I said the cummins was. You must have read it backwards. ;)

Amianthus, there's nothing wrong with it at all. That's the reason why people choose to swap them in, not why it's a better motor then a Powerstroke. :p

And here I thought my choice of motor, mental capacity, and level of income had been insulted. Boy do I feel stupid.
