Has anyone else seen this guy's YouTube videos? I get a kick out of them. Not because of all the shelled out Powerstrokes. I don't like those engines but I also don't like seeing ANYONE have to spend a ton of money on to fix and OEM screwup. They're just really good videos and the guy really knows his stuff and he just doesn't really give a damn what anyone thinks of him. He's not in your face but he's definitely not going to be buffaloed or probably buffalo anyone back. There are actually some pretty AMAZING failures he talks about where the engine is just utterly SMOKED but never locked up. Apparently Ford built those engines loose enough that even with extreme overheating they won't sieze because he's got engines apart that got hot enough to BLUE some internal components without locking up. Its pretty good stuff and he also has some videos talking about things to look for buying used trucks and how dealerships fix things vs. how he does that are good general knowledge. And yeah, there is a LOT of Powerstroke WRECKAGE and even though I don't want to see it happen to anyone, when catastrophic failure DOES occur, it's pretty darn cool on a fundamental level. No two engines EVER blow up quite the same.
 
Yes, I looked at his stuff. Seems on the ball. I also looked at joediesel187. These guys have been through the wringer dealing with these trucks. I'm on the assembly stages of this job myself. Ford didn't build these engines, Navistar did 'em. Ford does build the current Powerstroke 6.7. Look up CAVITATION on the 6.4 PS. It's not what you think.

Also, please post these in the General Diesel area so guys will find it easier. If I weren't looking at "what's new" I wouldn't have seen it myself.
 
I'll get right on that suggestion. Although 205 views suggest that plenty of people have found it. And yes, I'm aware that they're Navistar engines prior to the 6.7. I've been around a few of them going back to the 6.9 and 7.3. I've even had the "pleasure" of working on a few. So yes, I knew that they're Navistar engines up through the 6.4 Powerstroke. Although on pretty much EVERY Ford Powerstroke post online anywhere, at least ONE person has to throw in the "it's a Navistar engine" comment, the fact is that Ford doesn't consider it to be a Navistar engine. And neither does Navistar. Take your Ford to a Navistar/International dealer and tell them you want service beyond an oil change or something like that and they'll direct you right back to Ford. And 95% of the problems are Ford's problems rather than Navistar's problems. Because International hasn't had anywhere NEAR the problems with those engines Ford has. Primarily because they're DIFFERENT in a lot of ways. Namely in the emissions systems. Or lack thereof when it comes to the Navistar/International engines. Once the Navistar engine is in a Ford chassis its considered a "Ford" engine, and even the 7.3 and 6.0 Powerstrokes aren't "pure" Navistar. Caterpillar was heavily involved with the design and development of the HEUI fuel system and has used it extensively. Right now there is a '97 Ford Super Duty service truck here with a 7.3 PS and 5-speed, an '04 F450 service truck with 6.0 PS/auto and a '12 F450 service truck with 6.7/auto here where I work. The 200,000-mile 7.3 PS truck will basically run circles around the other two and all three are bone stock.
