I have had my powervision mirrors for about 8 months and they have been rock solid until recently. Over the past couple of weeks my driver side has developed a vibration to the glass only. Its not to bad at city street speed but is pretty bad at highway speed. The mirror mount and arm are solid and do not move but it seems like the actuator behind the glass has developed just enough play to it to let the glass move about 1/16 to 1/8 inch which causes a hugh vib at 70mph. I have had no damge to the mirrors and to the best of my knowledge no one has moved the glass "manually" from the outside. I have never come back to the truck and noticed any change in mirror settings. Has this happened to anyone? Any ideas before I call Con at Powervision?

Thanks

My Powervisions are about the same age as yours and so far they are fine. Call Powervision, they are great to work with.

I have the second gen. Power Vision mirrors. After reading your post J, it sounded to me that the three head to mount screws were coming loose. These are located inside the rubber accordian boot and are viewed from the bottom looking up (as installed). The screws are arranged in a circular pattern being roughly 120 degrees apart. If loose, I would tighten them up, applying a small amount of Loctite 242 (blue) to each one.

I thought about that too initially, but that arm its self does not vibrate, it is the mirror glass assembly that vibrates. If i stick my hand out the window while driving and touch the glass I can feel the vib. If I touch the outer "housing" or the arm there is no vibration. If i touch the mirror with just a small amount of pressure the vibration stops as long as I hold it.

I'm thinking that there is some play in the gears of the actuator that allow the vibration.

Thanks

I have had mine since Feb and on a trip last week, at high speed

the drivers mirror glass did start vibrating.

Talk to Powervision. They will work with you to id the problem and send a fix. I had a problem with mine, called them up, using my poor description of what was wrong, identified the problem, and sent me the replacement parts. Great folks to work with.
