It's ALL in the electrons my friends.....
The problem: Boost gets to @21 PSI... The ECM sees this and cuts back fuel...
We all know this. .
There are 3 current "Solutions" to this problem...
After testing a stock MAP sensor... we find that the 20-21 PSI Gives @2. 0 Volts.
We also know that the ECM changes fueling as the boost changes. . I. E. At an idle you have NO BOOST therefore the fueling "Curve" is LOW.
This helps to minimize SMOKE and lower EGT's
We also know that just before the ECM starts cutting back fuel it is at "Max Fuel" for that amount of boost. (I. E more fuel at that time will create more boost and that will push the ECM to cut back... . )
First Possibility. . We COULD give the ECM a CONSTANT 2. 0 Volts... ( This has been tried with a few $10. 00 Modules)
This will show 2. 0 volts from idle to redline... No cutback... .
HOWEVER. . At an idle the ECM will see 20 PSI boost. AND REGISTER A PROBLEM CODE!!!!
Next possibility... We could take all the Boost signals... divide them by 2 or 3 (Step Down) and send that new voltage to the ECM... . That way You'd practically NEVER hit the 2. 0 Volts that causes the ECM to cutback. . !!!
Problem... The "Fueling Maps" stored in the ECM go right out the window... .
At ANY boost level, the ECM has been programmed to give a SPECIFIC AMOUNT OFF FUEL.
If the ECM ONLY SEES 5 PSI boost... it's only going to give the level of fuel for that amount of boost.
If the boost signal has been divided by 2 or 3... the engine is actually at more like 10-15 PSI BOOST ... .
Remember boost ALONE gives no more power...
Where do we get the extra fuel????
INJECTORS... "LOOSE" Injectors that FLOW MORE. .
Did anyone Wonder why that STOCK ETH's performance dropped like a rock after "The Other" boost module was used?????
HMMMMMMMMMM... ...
The last and I believe the BEST solution...
Let the boost level readings go where they want @ or below that 20-21 PSI level...
Thats what the Cummins guys designed the system to do...
But how do we PREVENT the ECM from cutting back fuel AFTER 20-21 PSI... ???
Since we agree that the boost signals are best left alone below that "Magic" 2. 0 Volts to keep the stored fueling maps "Valid"
We need to modify ALL voltages over 2. 0 in real time!!!!
Simple... Effective... And IT WORKS... . BOY DOES IT WORK!!!!!
I'm Not at Liberty to Disclose the Circuit that is being employed... . I frankly don't know...
You will be HAPPY. . HAPPY...

The Practical Solutions Kit also comes with a "Calibrated" boost elbow...
It is bench flowed to a specific pressure level.
This prevents the Dreaded "Overboost" issue and acts as the "Safety Valve" for the setup.
I have No Monetary interest in this company!
Nor do I have an axe to grind with any other's product.
As I said in the beginning, there are differant solutions to the same problem. . This one has My "Stamp Of Approval". . BIG TIME!!!!
