Cannon Ball,
Got any numbers to verify performance gains with your module?? Say with a set of Stage III-A's installed? Also, when are you going to get the connectors for the 01's?
Mike

Mike, on performance gains with the module I can tell you this.

First I will start with a stock truck. I did some tests last weekend on a 1998 extra cab, 2 wheel drive, short bed, auto, 4. 10's.

Three runs were done 0-60. The truck took 12 seconds flat all three times.

Next we installed the module and elbow. Again, three runs were done 0-60. The truck again took 12 seconds flat.

Conclusion, no gain. To me the big factor was no loss either. The truck did feel slightly stronger on the top end though.

I also did some tests on my truck last weekend.

Its a 1999 quad, long box, 5 speed, 4x4, 3. 55 rear.

The mods done prior to the boost module are Diesel Dynamics Stage 1 injectors.

I do some power runs on the airport hill on the interstate as follows.

At the bottom of the hill at the last overpass I mash the pedal while going 65 mph.

You now begin about a 1 mile climb to the airport exit.

My top speed at the exit is what I record.

Top speed without the module and elbow is 98 mph. Turbo boost pegged on 20 psi. Ehaust egt's were 1320 degrees. Outside temperature was 86 degrees F.

The next run was done within 15 minutes of the first.

Top speed with the module at the same exit was again 98 mph. Turbo boost was 27 psi. Egt's were 1120 degrees. Outside temperature was 86 degrees F.

One thing I will note is I reached the top speed of 98 mph at the exit quicker.

I also done some 30 to 60 mph runs in 4th gear and with the module and elbow it is about 1/2 a second quicker with the module.

I do not know how what the module and elbow will do with Stage 111's as far as performance.

I would think it would perform well like the Stage1's other than the Stage 111's will make alot more boost.

When I test these modules i do it on a bench. I have an air regulator, a map sensor hooked to the regulator and a 5 volt power supply going in.

I turn air on to the regulator with a volt gauge in place to study and compare air pressure to voltage readings.

No matter how high I jack the air to the map it only climbs to 1. 98 to 1. 99 volts.

Even at 60 psi it will only read 1. 98-1. 99 coming out of the module back to the ecm.

Now, as I dis-connect the air line and slowly let the air pressure drop, voltage remains at the 1. 98 - 99 range steady until
the air pressure gets to about 20. 5 psi.

At this point the voltage slowly drops with the air pressure until no pressure is left.

The lowest the voltage goes is to about . 52-. 53 volts.

This condition would simulate key on engine off or engine running at idle.

This is as close as I could get the module and I do think I am in the ball-park.

Again, the boost module is no miracle power cure. I think the advantages are cooler egt's and a little more top end.

Also, 20 pounds boost is pretty wimpy for a Cummins.

Hope this helps.

I have a 2001 and do not understand about the fool proof wastegate feed? I have a blocked elbow in the side of the turbo.

The thing I appreciated about Cannonballs post was the drop in egt. We have seen this kind of improvement with the boost elbow. For guys that pull RV's it is a blessing.

HVAC, I agree, I installed a 4" exhaust system and temps dropped from 1300 degrees to 1200 degrees. Now with the addition of PS module I again see a drop from 1200 at WOT to 1000 at WOT and boost holds steady at 30 then begins to drop off to an even 27 as long as I have my foot in it.
This item does everything indicated and begins to give you an appreciation of the Cummins ability. I had no idea how much effect the derating was doing until I got this item installed and see how much more boost is available from this engine if given the chance to produce it.
Anyone with an ISB can benefit from this item, and surely with diffrent injectors or other goodies the benefits become even more apparent.

Tom

I just got mine and haven't put it on yet. But if the packaging and general appearance of the product are any indication of the performance - I'm impressed. Looks like it came from an OEM factory. #ad

OK, how much are these things? Also, I see that several folks have inquired as to whether it will work on an '01. Anyone know?

Thanks.

Larry, You are right, you do have a GREAT PRODUCT!!! I put one on mine and it makes a H$#@#@# of a difference. I pull a 5th wheel and a willeye boat behind the 5th wheel and I can run with the best of them . Hell, the commins is the best.

Dusky, you will have to give Gorden a call and he wil give you a price. Some of us got in an a group purchase and it was a great deal. Gorden will answer any of you questions and is a good man to work with

I have a PS boost module & elbow and have had it on my truck for about 3-weeks now. . I've noticed a marked improvement in acceleration expecially 3-6th gear when the boost starts to climb. Top boost is 32psi in 6th gear WOT. I can not verify any HP gains, however, over-all performance seems to be better. . One thing for sure is my EGT's have dropped betweeen 150-200 degrees depending what speed you are going and what gear!!! That's worth the purchase. . My fuel milage is also up . 5-1 mile/gal. better. I believe this is because with my VA-CPU, I am now burning the extra fuel better with the increased boost.
