May I ask what caused his death?

Sad news. I enjoyed reading his posts.

May I ask what caused his death?

He passed after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Even to his last days, he was still thinking of others. He was a great inspiration to me personally and he will be dearly missed.

2-1/2 yrs ago I was planning a trip to Minot, ND to visit my newborn grandson. David contacted me about the possibility of meeting as he was planning to be visiting his daughter and SIL at the Minot AFB. A couple of weeks prior he told me he wouldn't be making the trip at that time due to treatments.

Ironically, I'm in Minot this week and had messaged him maybe 2-3 weeks ago but never got a reply. As we were landing last week I saw a few military aircraft at the airport and Dave came to mind.

I share Ron's sentiments that Dave was a stand-up guy and an overall good person. I hope his family can find peace in knowing he was an example for others.

I just wanted to take a moment to update this thread. I just received a text from his wife Cindy. David passed away a little while ago. Please keep Dave, Cindy, and their entire family in your prayers during this difficult time.

Just one of the many positive marks David has made in his time on earth. The obituary had some info on his marriage that "readjusted" my memory...I thought he was engaged when our paths crossed at Chanute...oh, what almost 50 years can do with the organic storage matter...or, maybe due to an anomaly (a.k.a. brain fart) as I used to introduce my wife as my "ex-fiancé" back then and the tag stuck in my brain. Anyway, he was definitely an upstanding individual in our brief friendship.
