I was looking a pre 1/1/2007 2007 cab and chassis 3500. I was wondering if there was any issues with these trucks? It has 110,000 miles. Haven't talked to the dealer yet, will on Monday. Thanks for the help.

To the best of my knowledge none of the ISB6. 7 cab and chassis trucks have had issues, even the earliest ones.

TDR member EB, an oilfield hotshotter, bought one of the very first ones. Ask the dealer to run the maintenance history on the VIN to prove it was not a lemon.

If it is priced right and is what you want it could probably be a good buy. I'm very pleased with mine. I think I ordered it in November and took delivery early in January '08.

There's minor differences than an 07 C&C built after 1/1/07, most of it is cosmetic. My tech thought there might be a difference in the smog setup, but I never confirmed it.

I waited to buy my 07 C&C, to allow the HP increase on the 07 trucks built after 1/1/07, that was rummered in late 06, only to get the same HP and cost more money. Blue tech and the new cost for the CTD cost me an estimated extra $2K.

I have never heard of major issues with the C&C for any MY from 06 on. :)

My truck was manufactured in 10/06. Just rolled over 286k today. Had some emissions problems early on, everything has been posted here since I got the truck. I have not posted much lately because I haven't had anything to add. The truck is running good, only problems lately is u-joints. Nothing seems to stay in very long, Dodge joints or Spicier, greaseable or non greaseable. 15 to 30k miles and that's about it.

I to just picked up a 2007 C&C build date 11/06 and it is a replacement for the 2002. I like the truck but the only beef I have is the it done not have the engine brake. Talked to cummins and they are seeing if one can be put in. I hope. but other then that no problem and it has 100,000 km on it now.

EB what kind of fuel mileage do you get?

Running just the truck, 15. 5 - 17, truck weighs 10k. Pulling the trailer empty, 12 - 13, (trailer weighs right at 10k empty, loaded, up to 15k payload, 9 - 12, depending on weight and wind resistance.

It can be put in, it's just electronics. Mine came without one and it was done at the dealer, also the high idle feature.

Yes you do, but you have to have it turned on through the ECM and a D/C tech required. You should get the switch with the kit. It was an option for the pre 07 6. 7 C&C. If I remember right it is about $500. 00. But don't think I got mine free, I paid a lot more for my 6. 7 than your pre 07 cost, but they threw in the EB as standard equipment for post 07 MY's and on for all versions. :-laf Trust me, I paid more than $500. 00.

ya I have the switch but I need the butterfly in the exhaust. cummins have it on order and it should be in soon I hope.

Butterfly in the exhaust? I don't get it.

If your engine is an ISB6. 7 cab and chassis it doesn't use a butterfly in the exhaust. The variable geometry turbocharger provides exhaust braking by closing and blocking the exhaust outlet. The VGT slides from open for full boost to closed for exhaust braking.

You probably require activation in your ECM by a dealer tech and perhaps a switch and wires.

RVTRKN or EB know more about this than I do. Their trucks were earlier versions.

oh I thought that you still need the butterfly valve in the exhaust. Well I have to talk to the cummins guy tomorrow. thanks for the information. I will keep you all update with what is needed thanks so much.

As I have noted, its in the turbo as built, but you need the hardware (dash switch) and programing, BTW have them enable the high idle feature, it will keep the soot down during long idle periods. I never shut my truck down unless I'll be more than 15 minutes or worried about security, and I run it 1500 RPM.

well it is done I put in the exhaust brake wire harness and the switch and it was really simple and it works nice. Just need to get it to work below 1100 rpm but I think that that is normal. Also I had them do the high idle programing and I put in a hand throttle for those cold winter day. Thanks to you all for the information.

Just one more small evidence of the value of a $35 annual membership in the TDR.

All of us benefit from membership here. Someone always knows the answer to a any question.

If its an Auto then 1100 RPM is about right, but with my G56, its not but a couple of hundred RPM lower than yours.
