03 dual filter mouting kit

I saw, on a power stroke, a cloth type pre-filter covering the air filter cartrige. This pre-filter looked like a piece of silk. The very fine dirt was laying on this silk type cloth and was easily brushed off. There wasn't any oil medium. Does anyone know what I was looking at? Does anyone know what a guy can get one for a Dodge. Forgive me for looking at a Ford, the owner was showing me the prefilter but he didn't know where it came from.

Heck your from California you should have seen a bunch of those. They are a PRE-FILTER, FILTER SKINS, what ever you want to call them. They were started out by you, when are the guys started running in the desert. Became real popular with the dune buggy and ATV crowd, and finally made it's way into our "sport". If you ever go to a AFE intake system, they sell them for there filters. They basics, are nylon socks, look like silk I know, that are there to pre filter the air. In the desert it is not will your filter get dirty, but when will it get clogged up. So, after running around, you just remove the pre-filter, and shake it out, then re-install and away you go. If you did not have it on, the cotton gauze filter would be plugged, and require much more effort to clean. They work very well.

as mentioned afe makes them for their filters but there is another company called outerwears that will make one for you if they dont have the size you need.

Thanks guys, I knew that someone out there in Dodge land would have the answer. I run a '66 Bronco off road and the air filter is always being replaced. This should slow that down a lot!:D :D
