I have my EGT sensor 'Post Turbo,' and would like to know about how many 'degrees' I should add to get the temp that's 'Pre Turbo. ' I'm currently adding about 350 degrees to my 'Post Turbo' temps. I'm going to put a little red paint mark on my gauge to mark the max temp when I get the answer.
Thanks, Bob

Good question, but you will never get a accurate answer. Too many variables, like RPM's
load, intake airflow and temp. ,exhaust flow,ie
4",no muffler ect. Pick a number between 250
and 500 and you will be close. If you are a Bomber,I would go pre turbo for sure.

RobbyRam,
Have you thought about putting a pre-turbo sensor in and using a DPDT switch on your gauge? I have just installed my EGT guage with a switch next to it on the A-pillar to select between the two sensors.

Hey guys I've been lurking for several months now, trying to soak up all of this knowledge. Can anyone post some pictures of where they are installing the EGT probe on both Pre and Post turbo applications. I want the EGT and boost guage to be one of my first add-ons, and while I'm grasping most of what you guys are talking about, I don't have a clue as to where you are installing the senders. Thanks in advance. Jay

TOWGUY, here's where it goes for pre-turbo. Post is placed on the exhaust elbow and not on the seam.

I have a pre turbo and a post turbo gauge both. The temp varies anywhere from 25 to 700 degrees difference, depending on how hard you've got your foot in it.

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't realize the turbo had to come off to do this. Guess I'll plan a day when the time comes.

Hey Towguy, the turbo does not have to come off to do this install. Getting started is the only hard part. Once your into it you'll find it's a snap. It takes you longer to decide how to dress your lines and mount your gauges than it does to actually do the job.

I remember watching the twin pyro set-up in Pier's truck. The pre turbo reacted very quickly to throttle (fueling levels) position. The post pyro was more stable but was being buffered by the mass of the turbo housing. It was enough to make me change mine from the post turbo position. How long can you afford to wait for a high temp reading?
