Is there one installed from the factory? I mean, an inline jobber, not just the screen in the tank? It make sense to add one, considering the high amount of lift pump failures, I'd think.

Bryan...

I could be wrong here... .

But I think the failures are more due to the distance the fuel has to be sucked from the tank by the lift pump than foreign material going through it and wiping out the vanes. If this is the case, adding a filter, IMHO, would increase the suction required to get the fuel from the tank to the Injection pump.

The pump can barely suck the fuel as it is, a filter before it would most certainly kill your lift pump even faster. The idea is good, but DC made it an impossibility.

I would think, but I can't say for sure, that a high volume filter from something high performance or fuel injected wouldn't present very much of an obstacle for the pump, but agreed, it needs all the help it can get. :D

I've been real surprised at the amount of junk guys say they are seeing in their filter bowls when changing out the stock filters - LOTS of garbage coming from somewhere! It's reasonable to suspect that an unhealthy amount STILL gets thru to the injector pump, injectors and engine. :(

As others mention, adding another filter between the tank and existing LP is probably asking for trouble - but for guys like me who have added the additional Carter pusher pump back near the tank, an additional filter in front of the added pump seems like a no-brainer...

In my case, I used a good sized filter, but smaller than the stock unit - and I see future problems with too-frequent changes of the added filter being likely - so pretty quickly, plan to install a spin-on canister unit more like the stock unit in capacity... ;) :D
