You can do a search on this, but I am pretty sure that 1250 pre turbo is the max constant temp you should pull. The cummins site may have info on this also.
 
I agree with others--think I would be looking for lower gear to get the boost up--more air in there... ... . imo R, J. B. :rolleyes:
 
If you have a manual I would check it. I believe it says 1250 sustained and 1300 for half an hour. Thats from memory though. In general I try to stay at or below 1200 on the hills for any length of time.

1250-1300 probably OK for short periods less than a couple of minutes, but you would really like to be below 1250 at all times. If you don't already have it big exhaust and air in will help lower temps and of course shift down and get more air in when pulling the long hills.
