I've spent the last few days searching the forums trying to find some info on this subject with limited results relating to my specific situation.

From what I've read, the VA C3. 1 (pressure only) seems to be the most mild box when concerned with hurting injectors

The TS ramifier or the MP8 would probably be the most harsh,

and I'd guess that the EZ, and Quadzilla/granatelli fall somewhere in between.

I know many many people on this forum are stacking the TST with the BDDL, or Smarty, but I don't get the point of stacking timing and duration with more timing and duration. I may be way off, but I think a little pressure may do me more good than more duration at this point.

With that being said, what is the strongest box I can run safely without hurting my injectors? Keep in mind the modded CP3, and modded injectors. Anybody have a rail pressure guage, pressure box, and a modded CP3?

(desperately trying to reach 600 :D )

Many thanks in advance,

J. P.

Julius, when I searched the forums I came across those two threads. That was pretty much the only info I could dig up. Not much on anything else. Hopefully I can find a box that I can run on a daily basis, pick up a little power (maybe 30-50 hp) and not hurt my injectors. I know I'll need a rail pressure gauge, but I still have to buy the right pressure box the 1st time. Maybe the VA C3. 1? But then I read this and think EZ... ... .

The C3. 1 is a good box. Yes it is low power, but it gives everything down low as it is geared for the towing crowd. It was also one of the first boxes I ran. I loved it and the TDR person that was bugging me to buy it for the longest time is still very happy with it.

For a modded CP3 it might be perfect though because that's where you want your pressure - down low - so it gets ahead of the duration and keeps the rail pressure up. However, the VA does back off on the rail pressure towards WOT back to stock levels in order to control EGT for towing.

The only drawback I see is if the VA doesn't max out your rail pressure with a modded CP3 on its top setting. Then you would be cursing because you would want another level to adjust to.

I know someone that might have a used VA for sale still (because I almost bought it recently!) so I'll PM you. There's also a MP8 or two for sale in the classified for prety cheap.

The MP8 will give you the down low power like the VA, but you will have to exercise restraint with its settings. If you have no restraint, then things could get interesting!

Julius,

I was thinking the same thing about the C3. 1 and the modded pump. Maybe a mild box is all I could do without hurting the system. I guess the only way I'll know is if I get a rail pressure gauge, and start testing different boxes. (jeez, that's going to be expensive).

I have been running the va3. 1 for a while and it will make 60 hp by it self @ 100%. Not much gain and most of it is at low rpm and it doesn't have the high rpm peak of the others. It stacks well with the tst and smarty but I only run it when drag racing now to cut back on smoke.

If you are looking for big hp I don't think you'll be happy with the va3. 1. It may be the easyest on your injectors but the others will make 50-60 more hp.

Yes I am! :D The reason I went with the VA is I want the power down low where I spend most of my time while driving. I was also worried about my injectors and with the taper down that the VA does @ high rpms I will never pop my relief valve even running it @ 100% all the time since I got it.

I decided on the SP Diesel SIIe. It has 10 adjustable levels, in cab display, boost gauge(useless for me) and a rail pressure gauge. ETR had a discounted price, shipping included and the tech guy Jeff was pretty knowledgeable. Ordered the Glacier 392 comp system at the same time.

I don't have a modded cp3, but my truck is a much better daily driver with the VA c3. 1 than with just injectors and TST. I have an 03-04 VA box and an 04. 5 truck and on the high setting the VA will bury the rail sensor. Normally I run with the VA on low power and see a max of 26. 5kpsi on the rail. I want the ramping of VA on high with the max pressure of low power (need to call VA). For daily driver duty I love the c3. 1.
