Has anyone used a relieving pressure regulator before the MAP sensor as a boost fooler? I think it will work or am I missing something?? Thanks for any help.

Don't take this in the wrong way, but that is exactly how the Ford guys get around the Check Engine lIght from OverBoosting. It's a nifty looking pop-off valve.

Small problem with the Cummins, compared to the PSD, is, The PSD, the MAP is mounted on the fender, and has a long rubber hose leading to it, where on our Cummins, the MAP is screwed into the head itself, so you would need some adaptors to go from teh big thread size, down to 1/4" hose, put in a regulator, then back to the MAP sensor size, and then remote mount the MAP sensor.

Might be easier, and maybe just a little more $ (plus a few HP) to get a Boost Fooler for about $70. (Comes with a brass elbow, and an electronis module for a little more pep on the bottom end, and no codes when going over 20PSI.

The reason I am asking, I think there might be an advantage over the electronic boost fooler. Does it just change voltage inputs by adding resistor's or does it do something entirely different? Would the ECM be happier without any electronic enhancement but with big injectors for the power?

Easier is not always better.

An Edge COMP or EZ acts as a boost fooler by supplying the ECM with a false signal of 9psi.

"Just a boost fooler" usually just clips the voltage when approaching overboost. The fancier boost modules actually trick the ECM into thinking it has boost (9PSI), and the ECM fuels more than it would thinking it had 0PSI.

I think the easier (electronic) way would be the better way in this situation.

But,, if you do decide to do a regulator, then, let us know how it goes.

There also might some info about this in the past, so you might want to do a search. .

Thanks Merrick for all the input. There is alot I am trying to figure out about the ECM. I did a couple of search's but did not come up with anything.
