Pressure washer

Should a pressure washer work with a gravity feed water supply? I'm going to need to run a pressure washer off of a 330gal tote thats in the bed of my truck, washer is going to be ground level fed by a 5foot hose. The rest of the hose length will be high pressure.

On my Karcher pump one of the options is a hose to pickup water from any container, even a pond. Your results may vary.

We used to do this all the time washing cars on the sales lot. Just make sure the tank is full enough to provide decent supply to the pressure washer to prevent starvation of the pump, otherwise you can cause some pressure washers to die.

If the lid will hold, i might just feed a regulated air line into it too. 50psi or so should do the trick till the totes empty.

Probably 10 psi would do it. I think they only test residential to 25 psi.

residential is 25-45.

A high pressure washer is like our injector pumps. As long as there is liquid available on the supply side it will work. I ran a 3500psi washer off of a 250 gallon tank where the bottom of the tank was only 2 inches above the input to the pump for 4 years straight with a problem. Sold it two years ago and I know it is still in use.

my 3000 PSI Northern has to have pressure. I forget the amount but I think it was over 20 pounds. I know I bought a gauge on the way home to make sure...



The instructions basically are like a oxy torch.



Water on first and off last. The pump must always have pressure while operating.

With 330 gallons and the washer on the ground, you shoud have no problems, don't go looking for any. Have a 65 gallon cube in the back of my 4 Runner and the washer sitting level, unless I run the tank low and water goes away from the outlet, it works fine.

Well, gravity didnt do it too well so I modified the cap to accept a air fitting. 10psi works very well. I talked to the oil company that gave me the tote and they said when they get totes back they hook up a air hose and fill the tank to 25 psi to make sure its not damaged and that it conforms to their specs.
