I wanted to start a thread on what the members think is worth repairing (preventive maintenance) if they have recently purchased a truck.

While reading the TDR magazine I notice that on the 2nd Gen Issue 58 pg 28 stated by Joe to fix KDP, exhaust manifold, and fuel return lines. Is there anything else that you all would recommend maintenance wise? In countless issue it brings gauges especially boost/EGT.

Thank you all so much for putting the TDR online so I can go back and review past issues since I am a fairly new member. It shows you guys and gals really do care about your members.

If the horse power has been increased you need the boost and egt gauge to monitor the engine so you don't burn it up.

Eventually you will need to put a rubber hose on the drain for the AC.

Use the Micro-Glass or the Stratapore oil filters (Fleet Guard) on your engine (avaible at Geno's Garage).

Older trucks are prone to sucking air into the fuel syste:

*Service the prefilter Fuel Pre-Filter Cleaning on Ram/Cummins
*Inspect fuel preheater, replace it or toss it if it shows any signs of leaking fuel (wet or oily by electrical connector)
*Inspect 90-deg rubber fuel hose, and hard line coming in from tank (that one has a square cut O-ring known to get hard and brittle over time 12v accessories ID
*Check fuel fittings where they come out of tank for rust, brittle connectors
