I found 97 extended cab long bed 2500 4x4 locally for sale. This as been my ideal truck for while. It has the 12 valve (obviously), 5 spd (recently rebuilt), torque plate, 4" exhaust, air filter, guages, has 190K miles but other wise good condition. They are asking $10,500 which I think is a fair price, also what KBB says, anyone have an opinion on what this truck is worth. I have a 94 12V 5 spd 4x4 so I know what to expect to upgrade and repair. The truck is located in Cali btw.

The california locale is inflating the price a bit likely.

I see something like this locally often at a dealer for about 8-9K. Usually it looks pretty tired. If the condition is nice, then one man's trash is another's treasure.

With its age, in perfect conditions the valve stem seats and guide may cause some oil smoke on cold crank ups.

Otherwise, since you know the 12v drill for the second gen. you can evaluate other maintenance areas and costs to repair such at x mileage interval.

If it's in excellent shape, I'd be leaning towards $9k. Like my Dad always tells me... Something is worth only what somone is willing to pay for it. That truck may only be worth $5k to somebody else but if it's worth it to you, buy it.

In california, 10. 5 sounds like a pretty decent deal. if you can get it for a penny under 10k and it is in decent shape overall, go for it... Does it have EGR and california emissions?

I see a ton of these truck on Texas on Ebay and such. There is definately some good deals on these trucks in TX, but going out there to get one and bring it into Cali would be a PITA.

I'm pretty sure it is a California truck, it is the origial owner, so it should have the cali emissions. What exactly are the Cali emissions on these trucks?
