I got a quote on some Michelin tires.

Both are the LTX.

They wan't $205. 00 for the M/S :eek:

For the A/S $ 182. 00 :eek:

Sounds really high to me. Is this right? Or can I get a better deal?

Try COSTCO

I was just quoted $155 (265's) for the M/S at the local COSTCO. That was complete mount/balance/full deal meal.

Shelby;

The closest COSTCO is up in Winnipeg Manitoba. That's at least a 400 mile round trip. Wife wants to go as she misses COSTCO (& Fred Meyer).

Jeff;

Got access to Sam's Club? I bought my last set of Michelins from them. I used to buy from Sears as they are nationwide. Now, I go for Sam's as I can find the stores just as frequent and the pricng is much better. Last I was at Sam's I was checking on a set for the truck and the $600 range seems right.

I was in Billings a month ago and priced Michelins there because of the no sales tax issue, but was quoted similar prices to what you got.

The local dealer (Plains Tire) in Gillette, Wyo wants $164 mounted and balanced if memory serves me right. I'll probably buy mine at Sam's Club in Casper. I think you need to do some more shopping. I believe Sears was justing advertising a sale on Michelins, but we do not have their automotive dept. here. Not sure when it ends (or ended).

I got new LTX (245) set about 2 years ago. Ask to see if they have blemished or overstocked tires. I paid only $116 per tire.

I got my best price at my Dodge dealer. I paid about $700. 00 mounted and balance for 5 tires. I checked at Sam's and Walmart and the tires were not the same name. They may be the exact tire or the could be made to different specs.

I also went to several local independant tire dealers in the area. All said that the M/S would give 25 % more milage than the A/S. They said the A/S was designed with OEM test drives in mind not lonjevity. I got 55K out of my A/S set and now have 20K on my new M/S tires. They show NO sign of wear yet.

Check at Sam's Club if you have one nearby. They can order the m/s for you. Forget the exact price, but I know it was below $200 installed with all taxes, etc.

where ever you get them, just keep in mind that the LT that I saw at BJ's (and some other whole sale joints) is not the same tire as the LTX, even though it "looks" close.

Personaly, I will be putting Coopers back on if the set I now have ever wear out.

245/75/16 "F" just over $100. 00 each including mount and balance.
