When someone goes to the trouble of trying to find a vendor that sells any item for a lower price for the trucks we use and drive why would it not be reasonable to post the prices and contact information? Isn't this one reason for the internet information dissemination?

Seems fair to me. Maybe no one wants to see the competitions pricing so they can be more competitive #ad
- Opps did I say that #ad

<font color=blue>The policy is in effect because if a group purchase is arranged for Product A for $5 for a certain amount of time.

Three months later someone finda that post and demands the same product for the "group price" instead of the $10 price it is currently. That is why that policy is in effect.

Its frustrating sometimes but I agree with it and the reasoning behind it.

Any good compamy LOVES residual sales they are free and just add to their sales. If a person cannot read well enough to see that the price is in effect for just a certain amount of time at least they go to the vendor that was kind enough to give the members a price break in the first place.

The rational given is like a sive it does not hold water very well for the members or the good vendors.

<font color=blue> Thats just it in todays world noone reads before opening their mouth. Besides thats Rob's policy, this is HIS website so we are obligated to abide by the rules. If enough of us voice an opinion he will usually change whatever it is we want changed but in the end its upto him.

Your $35 gets you into the TDR and magizine subcription but it does NOT pay for this site entirely. Hence the banners with vendors.

I understand the reasoning behind the policy. However, it appears to be based on the assumption that only grief would come to those who dare to post a limited time offer.

As someone else said, that's a potential free "walk-in" purchase. The salesman has a chance to sell them an item they wouldn't have otherwise had. Stuff goes on sale all the time, and if this were truly an insufferable problem, businesses would never have sales. So it must be worth the hassle. Offering good customer service means customer service is never a hassle.

If this is a user web site for the benefit of the web site users, then a little grief from a potential customer is worth it. Never mind the ability to maximize the membership's purchasing power.

To conclude this ramble, I understand the reasoning, but I don't accept it as even a little pursuasive. So let's post the prices, make the terms clear and use our buying power as the capitalist system is designed to allow. Otherwise, alot of us will be paying too much.

Now that's my 2 (1. 3506 US+/-) cents worth.

I don't need the magazine all printed materials are way out of date by the time they are distributed. (see my profile for what I do you may understand).

If a person doesn't read what they are geting into I hope they get screwed to the wall each and everytime they buy anything, that way I can get it for a better price.

If the paid advertisement comes with a guarantee from the webmaster not to promote or publish pricing then it should be changed.

The vendors should learn that "price tier", "same price", or "fair trade" suggested in any manner will just cause problems, as this seems to be doing to them.

You older members may remember that bike company "SCHWINN". Everybody and everyplace sold the same model for 40 bucks, It was called "FAIR TRADE" pricing. They were over 100 years old and had 95% of the market, think about what it did to them.

The days of "one price fits all" are over and done for all but the most naive vendors.

As for this site being funded by the members only, I have no knowledge. There is no mention of this site being a charity either.

If it takes kicking off all commercial advertisement to get the real truth, raise the fee charges to the members, or at least devote a "pay per view" section where one might go to to see the best avaiable prices for the items, goods, and services if money is the key issue.

Face it folks, this country is founded on FREEDOM not selective censorship. Many many good men and women paid for this with their lives so we could benefit from their sacrifice. Seems a lot of folks on this site misunderstand this principle.

I found this in "MESSAGE BOARD GUIDELINES";

"No direct vendor sales on the board, if you are a vendor and are interested in advertising, please contact the webmaster. Product discussions are allowed, but please refrain from pushing product. While this is a gray area (when does one cross the line?), the webmaster retains the right to stop posts deemed to be in violation. "

If I have read this correctly, it says "No direct Vendor sales". In other words vendors cannot use this forum to advertise and promote their products. I DO AGREE WITH THIS! However it doesn't say that if I find a good buy on a product, that I can't let my fellow TDR Brothers know about it, including vendor and price.

Are vendors allowed to post in the classified adds? I don't know much about the classified section of this site. Is there a charge to use this site? Or maybe a "Vendors Classified" section specifically for vendors (with a charge) could post their "Specials or Promotions".

As far as group purchases, competive pricing is something everyone looks for. Everyone in business (including myself) have promotions while doing business. Other businesses have the opportunity to match my prices on promotions, just like our BOMBing suppliers. Competition is part of our economy, and part of our lives.

I might of missed something in the "Message Board Guidelines" or maybe something is posted about this subject in some other place that I haven't seen. If so please let me know.

I fail to see how the ammendment regarding search and seizure has anything to do with this:

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

<font color=blue> Actually he doesn't have to keep anything in mind... . this is HIS website he can do as he pleases. If you don't like it start your own site and you can do as you please. This has nuthing to do with censorship since it is HIS website and he is the webmaster of this page. He runs it for the Turbo Diesel Register we the members do not own it. Whats so difficult for you to understand about that?

Rob I think that the rule of no price posting is fine with me and the others on this site. All anyone has to do is click on the site, pick up the phone or E-Mail them directly. Sure there are gonna be late whiners who would still want the low price after the special ends, but that's just too bad if you're late getting in on the deals.

I personally have had no problem with finding out the prices from the dealers after reading the posts. If Rob allows price posting then there may be some prices that get misquoted or typoed. Just my thoughts.

Excellent solution, now all should be happy. #ad

I will check wholesale suppliers for overstocks, closeouts, and promotions and list the products and telephone numbers as they come up for the members to benefit.

1st item: "CUMMINS POWER" for anyone with diesel engines(LOL) hood badges and tailgate badges: 3. 99 and 4. 99 tailgate is 2x's as large as hood ornament. EBAY: serach on "Cummins" the person who has them has several of each and posts them regularly. There are pictures posted in the auction. They retail for 23 and 39 at the Cummins dealers. GREAT DEAL and look neat also.
