hi all,

i have a question i have been pondering. i got a price quote for an 07. 5 3500 QC shortbox 4X4. however i decided not to order due to an upcoming deployment (U. S. Army) now due to the 15 month changes and the 08 ordering time just around the corner, i won't return until late 08 season or possibly even 09 order time. does anyone have any idea what prices may be like for 08's or possibly even 09 prices. i'd like to know because i could possibly order an 08 from where i am ahead of time or i could sit and wait till i return and get an 09. what does everyone think?

thanks

Shawn

Shouldn't be any major price hikes since the emissions should be the same but expect it to go up a little for inflation. I would order it when you can get some good rebate deals but also realize it will take a while to build and ship depending on where you order it from. My truck was delivered about 20 days after I ordered it since I bought it in St. Louis but if they ship it from mexico on a boat or it gets tied up on a train it can take months.

I'm going to replace 2 trucks this summer... . either with the new 5500 or F-650's based on the final cost... . I'm buying now because I think sales will be slow as long as the fuel costs are high... . I'm guessing as we move to summer and the fuel price doesn't come down... the prices and rebates will get better... .

I think Jim's right - if fuel prices get high the dealers will get desperate to sell the big trucks.

My advice is not to buy now. You don't know how you might feel after your tour, or precisely what your financial situation might be. Plus, the thought of configuring and buying a new truck for yourself when you return may give you more morale than you think!

I'd relax, and save up lots of that tax-free combat pay so you'll have a big 'ol down payment when you return.
