Called up the dealer today to get an appointment for some warrenty work, and I asked him about the Dodge/Jacobs E-Brake, and he said they can get them and install them, I'm like ok, how much? he cooly says $1200!!!!!!!!!!! #ad
YIKES!?is this in the ball park? or is this in the last row of the parking lot? It just seemed like way too much? Any deals out there? How much did you guys pay? It kinda discouraged me from it LOL but I want one because I tow sometimes, and it would be a nice addition. Thanks for the help

Sounds about right for a dealer quote. I got a quote for about $550 when I was shopping around. Mopar4less. I think Carls page has a group deal on Pacbrake right now.

My dealer wanted around $800 NOT installed. I think that was higher than list price.

My dealer installed mine Sat. for $635. As Lurch said I got a quote for somewhere around $550 from Mopar4less so I figured I'd let my dealer do the install. This was an add-on with the new p. u. but I would think $1200 would be too much. I do know with only 240 miles, it would be money well spent. I only need the time to rig up the BD switch now #ad

Have you guys installed the brake yourself? or did a dealer do it? if you did, was it worth it, or should I let the dealer deal with it?
And thanks for all of the replies

$635 from my dealer also, but they wanted 4 hours labor to install @ $80. an hour. I will take delivery of the new truck on Thursday night (4/12). I told the dealer to just "install" the Jake on the floor of the truck when I pick it up and I will put it in myself. Scheduled for installation on 4/21. Should make into a nice Saturday project. Will let you know how the install goes.

I installed the E-brake by Jacobs 18 months ago and wouldn't consider having a dealer install if I had to do it again.

The only time the truck is actually disabled is when the stock elbow is removed from the turbo and replaced with the E-brake elbow—seven or eight bolts/nuts total as I recall. You should be able to work at your own pace, doing as neat or as sloppy a job as you wish with the wiring harnesses, solenoid, and switch.

The most difficult part of the install for me (and I've heard this from others) was pulling the cigar lighter recepticle for a source of key-on 12 volts. This 12 v. source is ONLY used to light an indicator lamp in a toggle switch, not needed if you go with a shift-lever mounted switch, and not needed if you don't care to light up the toggle switch.

Jacobs makes an excellent package and provides EXCELLENT illustrated instructions.

If you choose to install your own brake, not only do you avoid paying the install fee but you have the advantage of shopping around—you should be able to find the brake for somewhere in the neighborhood of $600.
