Hi Guys,

I just put a used prime loc on my 96, and I have a leak at the adapter (aluminum billet) that screws into the original fuel filter base (on the engine). I have taken it down a few times and I think that I have it as tight as it is supposed to go, but still leaks. Does anyone have install instructions you can e-mail me? Do you have any ideas what I am doing wrong? I left the thick gasket (o-ring?) on the center fitting, as I onyl had one new one, and I put that on the new filter base. I have already checked the FAQ's and 911 archives. This is my daily driver and my search and rescue vehicle. Thank you so much!

David.

The adapter has two "O" rings. A small one on the center inlet and another large one for the outside diameter.

I tried to post a picture of it here but the "program" won't let me because I have already posted it once on the "genos fuel filter relocator" thread.

Do a search and you should find it there. If not, send me your e-mail address and I'll send you a copy of the instructions.

I have bumped up against this attachment posting obstacle before. The last time I just changed the dimensions of the picture and was able to post it. It would be simpler if I just send it to you via e-mail.

prime loc

Thanks, Howard,

That diagram helps a lot. That is a nice installation of the filter on your Dodge.

Do you recall if the center o-ring (item 22 on the diagram) is like a regular o-ring, or is it like the large, thick, square cut gasket that comes with the filter to replace each filter change? That's the piece that I left up between the adapter, and now I think that is the source of my leak.

BTW I looked up Soap Lake and it is not that far off the I-state to Spokane. I probably will visit my sister in Spokane this spring or early summer, and I'll stop by and buy you a cuppa or a cold brew. Thanks again for the help.

David

Prime Loc

Dtygart i went through the same thing when i first installed my prime loc, and i ended up using a regular o-ring on the center threaed pipe and it has been leak free ever since. Oo.

David,

Nfox is right. Remove the old square "O" ring and replace it with a standard one. I don't know the size though.

It looks like the small "O" ring is thicker than the outside one but probably not as thick as the one for the filter.

Try putting the outside ring on the adapter, lay a straight edge across it then find a center "O" ring that just touches the straight edge when you put it in place.

If you would like, send me your e-mail address and I can send you a copy of the instruction manual. It lists the part numbers for everything but, of course, does not tell the sizes of the "O" rings.

I've got a used prime loc system if you need a differant adaptor. Private message me if I can help. Jim

Thank you, Thank you! All you guys who replied, Howward, nfox, jzenk and Parks; you all helped me a lot. We finally got a break in the weather, and I dug into that thing. Took the adapter off and the big gasket out, put an O-ring in the center and measured with a strait edge--just perfect, so I hooked everything up. No leaks! Runs fine! Thanks again, TDR Roundtable Rocks!

David

ps: Howard I am sending you an IM about the instruction sheet.
