Portable workshop compressors - is "oil-free" really that bad?

In your opinion('s), who makes the best primer. Who makes the best paint.

Two catagories:

1. Rattle cans... for those hunting trucks, rims, quick fix jobs.

2. Paint gun products

I have a hunting vehicle that is ready for paint. Most important at this point is longevity.

In the future me and the kids will be painting trucks (we have a 93 w350 for starters) for their personal use. So, I am interested in both and would be willing to purchase moderately priced equipment for real paint projects.

In my opinion most brands will be comparable between comparable types of paint so find a good paint dealer in your area that will work with you and buy whatever brand they sell. Epoxy primer makes a great base for new paint but it doesn't sand very well so I'd use a urethane primer/surfacer over the epoxy since it's made for easy sanding and it lays down thick. As for paint I like to use urethanes in either single to two stage, for a hunting vehicle a single stage urethane would work good and it's not too expensive. The hardner's used in paint are very toxic and you need a positive pressure supplied air mask to use them. A good place to go for painting information and equipment is Autobodystore.com
