I am posting this for my horse shoer. He just bought a 99 and was going to change the fuel filter, but when I looked at it I could not see a fuel plunger like on mine. The filter housing is the same as mine, but I could not find the plunger.

Thanks and God Bless

That's because the 99 uses an electric lift (fuel transfer) pump. Assuming your horse shoer's truck doesn't have a fuel pressure gauge, I'd just run the lift pump through about 5 complete cycles (in case he didn't fill the filter housing).

To run the pump through a cycle, turn the key to "on", just bump the starter and immediately let the key return to the "on" or "run" position. DO NOT START THE ENGINE! You should hear the lift pump run for 25-30 seconds or so, then it will shut off. Turn the key to the "off" position.

Repeat the above 4 more times, then try to start it. If it doesn't start immediately, hold the accelerator pedal down about 1/2 to 2/3 while cranking. If it's well primed and no air has gotten into the VP-44 injection pump, though, it should kick right off.
